CHH Auxiliary Artist of the Month Now Showing

November 05, 2019

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of Claudia Wood Rahm now through early December 2019 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington.

The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

After many years devoted to her family and career, Warren artist Claudia Rahm resumed painting in 2010. Her lack of formal training has made way for her interest in design and color rather than optical realism; she has created art her own way. Her passion to paint is simple…the freedom and fun with which children make artistic choices continue to influence her work. From bold abstracts to whimsical scenes that burst with detail and story, Rahm’s art emerges from the pages of her sketchbooks as well as her childlike imagination. Her love for the ocean, the countryside and the Bible often leads her to paint in layers of meaning. Her mixed media works and contemporary primitives joyously celebrate her love of color, design, and nature, as well as her faith.

Claudia has shown and sold her art in Litchfield County and along the Connecticut shoreline, as well as in Western Massachusetts and Maine. This is her third exhibit at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fashion show.
